01Introduction
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Selani and the bookings made through it. They apply to everyone who uses Selani — both customers who book hair-styling services and stylists who provide them.
By using Selani you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. Please read these Terms together with our Privacy Policy.
02Who we are
Selani is a platform that connects customers in Johannesburg with professional hair stylists who provide services at the customer’s home, booked over WhatsApp. Selani is operated by Orana Investments, a company incorporated in South Africa.
References to “we”, “us” and “our” mean Selani. You can reach us at hello@myselani.co.za.
03Using Selani
To use Selani you must be able to enter into a legally binding agreement. You agree to provide accurate information, to keep your contact details up to date, and to use the service lawfully and respectfully.
Selani provides a platform that connects customers and stylists; the styling services themselves are provided by independent stylists, not by Selani. We may suspend or end access for anyone who misuses the service or breaches these Terms.
04Bookings & cancellations
A booking is made when a customer requests a service and a stylist is confirmed for it. Once confirmed, both the customer and the stylist are expected to honour the booking. A deposit may be required to confirm a booking.
If you need to change or cancel, please do so as early as possible. Late cancellations or failures to attend may be subject to a charge or may affect a deposit. Any amounts and cancellation charges that apply to your booking are made clear to you at the time of booking.
05Payments
Prices are shown or agreed before a booking is confirmed. Payments are handled securely through our payment partners; you should not pay in cash. By making a booking you authorise the applicable charges, including any deposit and the balance due.
Receipts and payment details are provided through the service. If a payment fails or is reversed, we may suspend or cancel the booking.
06Terms for stylists
Stylists using Selani are independent service providers, not employees or agents of Selani. As a stylist you agree to complete our verification process and provide accurate information; to hold any qualifications, registrations or permissions required to provide your services lawfully; and to arrive on time and provide services professionally, safely and respectfully.
Selani facilitates bookings and payments between you and customers; you remain responsible for the services you provide. Payouts are made to the account details you provide, after the relevant booking is completed.
07Acceptable conduct
Everyone using Selani is expected to behave lawfully, safely and respectfully. You must not harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone; misuse, damage or interfere with the service; provide false information; or use Selani for any unlawful purpose.
We take the safety of customers and stylists seriously and may remove anyone who behaves unacceptably.
08Liability
Selani provides a platform connecting customers and stylists and does not itself provide styling services. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Selani is not liable for the acts or omissions of customers or stylists, or for indirect or consequential loss.
Nothing in these Terms excludes any liability that cannot be excluded under South African law, including under the Consumer Protection Act. Your statutory rights are not affected.
09Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “last updated” date above. Your continued use of Selani after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
10Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and any disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
We encourage you to contact us first so that we can try to resolve any concern directly.
